A card that still works a week later

A business card has one job after the handshake. It has to carry a name, a way to reply, and enough of the brand that the person who finds it in a jacket pocket still knows who handed it over. That is the piece founders, sales reps, recruiters, consultants, and agency account teams reorder every time a title changes.

The same small format gets used for work that is not an introduction. Appointment cards, a loyalty card with room to stamp, and a short QR that opens a booking page all fit because the size is familiar and easy to hand out. If every card in the stack should say something different — a name, a title, a store number — say that when you ask for the quote. One design repeated many times is a different job from a set of names.

Teams that also print letterhead often want the card to match that set. If this order should sit beside envelopes and letterhead, say so; the envelope and letterhead page is the place to spec the rest of the stationery.

Size, stock, and finish

You set the finished size. The size most people picture is 3.5 by 2 inches, and that is a sensible default, but a square card, a slim card, or a card too large for a wallet slot is a choice you put on the quote. Tell us whether you want one side or two.

Stock and finish decide how the card feels. Say how substantial it should be, and which surface you want: matte, gloss, or soft-touch. An uncoated sheet takes ink differently and can be written on. A coated sheet keeps a photograph cleaner. If you want something beyond a flood finish — rounded corners, a spot varnish, a metallic ink — name it. We confirm that request on the quote before anything is printed. We do not treat every effect as available on every sheet.

Quantity is yours as well. A short run, including a run where each card changes, is the kind of work digital printing is built for. You do not have to pick a press. Describe the run, and the quote will name the process.

From the quote to a box on a doorstep

Start with a quote request. Include the quantity, size, stock, finish, whether the cards are identical or variable, and the state or ZIP for the shipment. We price the job and send a proof. Nothing is printed until you approve that proof. After the run, we ship the cards anywhere in the United States.

If the boxes need to split across offices, list each destination on the same request. We would rather confirm the split before press than repack a finished job.

Artwork that will not get cropped

Type that sits on the trim will be cut off. A card is small, so the margin is unforgiving. Build the art to the finished size with bleed, keep names and phone numbers inside a safe margin, and send a PDF. A slide deck, a low-resolution export, or a logo floating on white is not press-ready.

Graphic design and prepress can build the card or repair the file — bleeds, color, and type — so the proof you approve is the card that prints. Send the logo and the wording if you want that help, and keep the quote request in the same thread so the specs and the file stay together.

Frequently asked questions

Can you print a different name on each card?
Yes, when you mark the job as variable and send the list of names with the art. A run of identical cards is quoted differently, so say which one you need.
What do you need from me to price business cards?
Quantity, finished size, the stock and finish you want, one side or two, and the state or ZIP where the shipment should go.
Do I need a finished design before I ask for a quote?
No. A press-ready PDF is enough to print. If you only have a logo or a rough layout, graphic design and prepress can build the file before we proof it.
Will I see the card before the whole run prints?
Yes. After the quote, we send a proof of the layout. We print once you approve it.
Can one order ship to more than one place?
Say so on the quote, with each state or ZIP and how you want the quantity split. We confirm those shipments before production.
